Week one: Classes, Buses and Movies....OH MY!

Hello dearies!
Week one is pretty fun and interesting!
Classes are pretty straightforward so far, I would say to find a good study group and start studying the first day. Study every day and don't fall behind and it will help to not add extra stress. My study group and I meet for about 4-8hours a day so far (it depends on the homework and lecture load for that day). Remember all the things you had to do to get here, don't slack off when you have been given such a great opportunity, that others would die for. You are here for a reason to prove them right, you deserve to be here!

First Day of Vet Prep

Maryland and I went and caught a "bus" to go to the local movie theatre with a group of people. I say "bus" because it was not what you would normally call a bus. So if you want to catch a bus there are a few things to know.

Bus Fact #1: Buses kinda just make loops around the island but all buses will always end at the capital Basseterre

Bus Fact #2: They don't make spots at every bus stop, they will pick up people who just flag them down on the side of the road.

Bus Fact #3: The bus fare is always $2.50 EC (which is $0.93 US)

Bus Fact #4: It is normally a Van and not an actual bus. ( when the van/bus pulled up to get us, every cell in my body was screaming "Do NOT Get In That Van with the Strangers!!" but that's what you have to do. #SorryMom)

Bus Fact #5: It is only a bus if it has a green license plate and it has the letter "H" before the numbers on the plate.

Bus Fact #6: Bus drivers seem to drive faster than taxi drivers
    *I think buses are the only things that don't run on island time

Bus Fact #7: have your $2.50 EC ready to give to the driver (either right as you get in or right when you get out) DO NOT MAKE THEM WAIT FOR YOU (or else they will be very grumpy)

Bus Fact #8: When in doubt, ask the fellow passengers on the bus. Most are extremely friendly and happy to answer any questions

Bus Fact #9: have your ID out and visible, this will inform all those around you that you are not a tourist but, in fact, a student! This will help you as you mingle with the locals.

So even though the final destination of the buses is the capital, there are tons of places to stop along the way. There are two grocery stores and even a movie theatre! Yes, you heard correctly there is a real US quality movie theatre! Maryland and I went with a smaller group of upper semester students to go see The Greatest Showman. I was amazed at the prices! A movie ticket back home would have easily been $10 US dollars but here it was on $6 US dollars! We were also informed that on Tuesdays that Ross Students can see movies for $3 US dollars! You can't beat that! This theatre even gets movie about two or three days earlier than back in the states. It was a nice thing to do to take a little two-hour study break.

Friday, Dec 29th,2017- Landed in St.Kitts!!

     Alright, things are getting serious, people! Landed in st.kitts and our plane stopped on the tarmac. As the fellow passengers and I exited the plane, we walked across the tarmac to the airport building. It felt like a scene from a movie. The sky was so blue and the air was cooling with the warm Caribbean sun shining down. First thing first was customs, I had to fill out customs paperwork and show my passport. The lady also asks to see a copy of my acceptance letter, after I informed her I was on the island for vet school. I informed her that I didn’t have the physical paper on me but I tried to show her my email acceptance letter I had on my iPhone. She was less than thrilled about that but she ushered me on through. 

Once passed customs I went downstairs to collect my checked luggage. I was one the last few down to the luggage area and I immediately found my luggage. It looked absolutely fine, aside from a large crack across the corner of my pink roller suitcase. But that suitcase had a fabric liner inside of it and that lining had held any the items in the bag. I found the Ross University Rep outside and I checked in with her. As we loaded the bus to take us to Ross I met two new friends, “Georgia” and “Maryland”. Georgia is a first-semester student and Maryland is a fellow Vet Prep student.  At the dorms, I met “Ohio”  who is a 1st semester and “San Antonio” who is a vet prepper.  Later that night I also met “Pennsylvania” who another vet prepper. 

                        

Saturday, Dec 30,2017- Island Exploring

Ohio, Maryland, Georgia and I went to meet up my sister J, at the Marriott and take in the beach. We walked over to the strip, which includes Shiggy Shak (a local bar/restaurant). We caught a taxi into the capital, Basseterre. We were lucky enough to be able to be in St.Kitts during Carnival. The costumes were bright and colorful and the music was upbeat but very loud. They even played “shape of you” as an island remix. It was quite interesting. If you were there, you may have gotten the impression that the island was hard of hearing because the music was so loud, one could feel their eardrums wanting to break. Once we got back to campus, we went to a local grocery store called Best Buy. Please understand that this is not the big electronic store that we know and love in the States! But they had tons of name brands and I found lots of things I eat at home.

Shopping Purchases included; Frosted Flakes, popcorn, peanut butter crackers, Campbell's soup, red baron pizza,  Jif peanut butter, and milk. As Maryland continues to tell each of us, as we find more familiar snacks, "we are going to be alright"! 
 

Sunday, Dec 31,2017- New Years Eve

New years eve arrived and we took time to explore and tour the camps with our orientation groups. The campus is just large enough to get a little confused. Each group has an OL, an orientation leader, who is an upper semester student. They show you around and answer your questions. We also got to go to the student union building and get our ID cards. These picture IDs will give you access to your classrooms, the gym, and the dorms. You also need your ID to get back to campus so always take it will you. That afternoon we brought all of our electronic devices and had a "security slime" put on it. SO bring everything; laptops, ipads, apple pencils, cameras, phones and such. For dinner, Georgia, San Antonio, Maryland, Penns, and Ohio ordered pizza for a delivery service called (869-To-Go). We invited a few more students to our group and played "heads up". I highly recommend that you branch out and meet as many people as you possibly can during your first week. Don't stay with the same two people and not branch out. This is your time! Everyone is new and everyone is nervous and excited! Be bold, go say hello and start a conversation! that evening we can a bonfire on the beach to ring in the new year. I went with some people and just went from group to group saying hello. Meet the OL's, the first semester students and the vet preppers.

Monday, Jan 1,2018- Shipwreck Beach

So Monday was a pretty relaxed day. There was an option of going to Carnival or to the beach. I picked the beach because I wanted a relaxing day without a lot of noise and stress ( I was sure to get plenty of that in the future).We went to Shipwreck beach which is south of the Marriott and over the big hill ( that's how you navigate on the island, by landmarks of some kind). I will say that I reapplied sunscreen every hour but still got brunt so maybe do every 30 mins if you are as pale as I am. On shipwreck beach there are monkeys. Word to the wise, do NOT feed the monkeys! They will hassle you for food if you feed them and they can get violent. Also, watch your drinks because monkeys can and will come sip on your drink. Nobody wants a drunken monkey. After the beach, the OL's set up a movie night for us in two of the classrooms. They showed Jurassic World and Moana. It was a fun way to just relax and meet your fellow students in a low-key setting.




 

 

Tuesday, Jan 2,2018- First Offical Day of Orientation

So the day arrived and it was the first day of orientation.  This was the day we learned the term "Island time". They had told us that we would get ipads, laundry cards, and island cell phones. None of these things have arrived. We learned the term "Rush Slowly". When you get to St.Kitts, you understand this statement on a spiritual level. In the morning, breakfast served and it was free to all students. You have to promise me right now that you need to try, at least just once, the zucchini bread.  It will mend your weary heart and prep you for the first day of orientation week. The orientation talks will, of course, begin with many speakers. Now, take a deep breath! Some of the things you are told may be overwhelming but don't worry. You have your entire class and your OL's to help guide you. When you walk into the room and you have a sudden flood of emotions, don't worry every single person is having their own mental breakdown too. So we are all in this together! You were picked out of tons of student and you deserve to be here and you can become the DVM you have always dreamed about!
So after the emotion hurricane, that is the first day of orientation, is over, you can breath a little. Take the afternoon to go explore with your fellow students. I went with Maryland's OL group to Port Zante. Port Zante is where all the cruise ships dock. If you go when there aren't any cruise ships docked, most of the shops won't be open. So you will want to go when a cruise ship docks, to get the full experience of  Port Zante. Bring your student ID with you and wear it around your neck when you go out, most of the locals that are trying to sell things will leave you alone if you have your Ross ID on. This is not a hard rule because I had a girl in my group, who just simply sat down to get some ice cream and a random local came up and started rubbing her leg with an aloe plant. It was quite a shock to her and she sweetly told him to stop but he just kept going. Our OL came to our rescue and told the gentleman that she didn't need it and that she had no money to tip him. Our OL explained to us that the local men needed to be very firmly told No. You can't softly tell them no because they won't get it. Also, go with a group and have a plan for getting back to Ross. I highly recommend calling Mr.Rogers to take you when you and your group travel about.  He charges (normally) 20 EC  (Eastern Caribbean Dollars) for a round trip. That's about 8 US dollars and don't worry, you will get use to the EC to Dollar conversion very quickly (it takes about a week).

Wednesday, Jan 3,2018-Second Day of Orientation

The second of orientation talks where pretty general. They held a lot of knowledge that will be beneficial to do your best to pay close attention. this was also the day I got approved to move from Cleghorn basement to Douglas hall main floor. The thing about the dorms is that is your room number is in the 100's then it is in the basement. 200's are the main floor and of course, 300's being top floor. That evening we went to Sprat Net, a local bar/restaurant, I encourage everyone to try new things when you go to new places. As my mom and dad always say, try everything at least once.

Thursday, Jan 4,2018- Third Day of Orientation

The third day of orientation was a bit longer but we got done by 3pm which left plenty of time to clean and decorate my new dorm room. Went and did another shopping at best buy for a few things. I must caution you to always check the dates on things, especially milk. You do not want to buy a gallon of milk that expires tomorrow. That evening there was a game night at the student union building. We even had a scavenger hunt around campus. I know I keep harping on this but go do activities and things that are organized for you because you don't have any homework yet.

Friday, Jan 5, 2018- Fourth Day of Orientation & Radio Tower Hike

After the fourth and last day of orientation, I went on a guided hike up to the radio tower. My hike was lead by an OL who had done the hike many times before. Word to the wise, take a full bottle of water, wear good shoes (tennis shoes or something you can hike and climb in) and bring a buddy. The hike is roughly 1hour and 20 mins uphill and it is very steep in most places. Don't be ashamed to stop for breaks! take your phone to take pictures as proof of your great trek up the mountain. That evening the OL took our group on a taxi tour of the island's capital. 

 

Saturday, Jan 6, 2018- Catamaran

Okay this was a great day! The Catamaran trip was awesome! 1st semester and vet prep all got mixed up and put on one of two catamarans. Even though there was rain, it was Caribbean rain. It means that the rain only lasted for 15 mins max! We were told that we would get laundry card to operate the washers and dryers in each of the dorm rooms. But with the laundry cards nowhere to be found, Ross had to come up with a different idea. They made it so we could use one washer in Wood's Dorm, one washer in Columbus' Dorm and one dryer in Tegerman Dorm. Imagine 100 plus students with only two washers and only one dryer. This just goes to show that Rossies are adaptive and overcome issues that arise. That evening, San Antonio, Maryland and I had an adult dinner party. We made chicken fried rice, using chicken nuggets (cut into tiny pieces). 

 

It was a busy but fun-filled week!

Day 2.0 of Traveling: Dec 29th,2017

DALLAS to MIAMI

      So I woke up at the Quality Inn and made my way downstairs to check out and board the shuttle to the airport. I can easily say that hands down the shuttle ride from the hotel to the Dallas Airport was the scariest part of my travels. My diver was a sweet guy but I was not prepared for "the Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift" style of driving that this gentleman had up his sleeve. There was only one other passenger in the shuttle. The whole ride I became more and more happy that I had opted to wait to eat breakfast at the airport. The entire ride me and the other passenger just held on to the "oh shit" handle and said a silent prayer. The shuttle dropped me off first and as I jumped out I turned back and told the other passenger to have a safe and smooth flight. He told me that I should also have a safe flight but after that shuttle ride, that everything else would be smoother in comparison.

   Okay so my parents got my TSA PreCheck  (it's $85 US dollars for a 5-year membership) and I highly recommend to get if you flight often! I walked into Dallas airport and from the time I walked through the door until I got to my airport terminal, took me 10-12 minutes!! Now, I need to express that if I had gone through the normal line, it would have easily been 50mins. There were tons of people at 04:30.

Once I got to my gate I decided it was time to scout out some breakfast. I saw a small little shop and I went in to investigate what kind of goodie they might have. I was in shock when I saw that a single (kind of on the smaller size) banana was $2 US dollars. Umm, I don't need potasimum that badly! geez

I got something for breakfast (not their pricey bananas) and headed back to my terminal. As I eat my breakfast the flight desk stated that you could check your carry-on bag and it would arrive with you at your final destination. Since I was planned to reach St.kitts by that afternoon, I thought it was a good idea. Plus, there was that issue I ran into on my Wichita to Dallas flight, of it not fitting in the overhead bin. So I decided to go ahead and check it. So I just had my huge backpack and boarded the flight.

  So as I boarded the flight and one of my zippers on my smaller pockets on my backpack caught on the dividing curtain, you know that tissue paper thin that separates the first class from the common folk. When it pulled my zipper open, all my 50 fruit roll-ups shattered all over the aisle of the plane. My first thought was "maybe no one noticed" and as I turned around I realized that was completely incorrect! I actually had a thought like "just keep going and they won't know those are your 50 fruit roll-ups". I was embarrassed but leave no man or fruit roll-up behind so, with the help of some other kind passengers I picked them and shoved them into my empty see-through waterbottle. I clipped my water bottle to my backpack and tried to just get to my seat without giving anyone else another funny show!

I got to my seat, which was the middle seat ( the universal favorite seat on airplanes, right?), between. an older couple. I spent the flight to Miami chatting with the couple. They were going to the Bahamas to go sailing on their sailboat for two weeks together. I asked if they would like to switch seats so they could sit together and the wife told me "we have been sitting next to each other for the past 37 years, we enjoy the change" and then she gave me a warm smile. The rest of the flight was very calm and went a lot smoother than the shuttle ride.

Once I got to Miami I only had to walk 5 gates to the south of where my plane had docked. Once I got to the gate area, I began looking around thinking that some of these passengers are going to be my future study buddies and such! I met a family that was traveling with their daughter to Ross for Vet School. The girl's mother was slightly concerned that I didn't have anyone traveling with me but I assured her that it didn't bother me at all.

   As I boarded the final leg of my journey to RUSVM (Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine) and found my seat, I had a clear moment of utter panic! What am I doing? This is craziness! I'm leaving all my friends, family and pets and going off on my own to ANOTHER COUNTRY!?!?  But I had to remind myself that it was going to be okay and all the love and support from the people at home. Remembering how much they believed in me and supported me, calmed me down just as fast as I had freaked out.

   This was not going to be easy but I was not going for easy. I was going for those three letters after my name, DVM, and to reach something I had been dreaming about since I was a little girl. About that time the girl who had the seat next to me sat down. Thinking that she may be one of my new classmates, I asked her if she was excited and followed it up with asking if she was in Ross. She looked at me like I had just suggested we fly to St.Kitts on a pegasus! She informed me that she was with her family, on vacation. But we kept chatting through the flight.

Our plane finally landed and I had butterflies in my stomach and was so nervous and excited! I got off the plane and had to walk across the tarmac to get to the airport, kinda felt like an old-time movie. After making it through customs without any real problems, I went downstairs and got my luggage. All three of my bags were there but my pink suitcase had huge cracks all over on the corners but the fabric liner had kept everything inside. So there was a silver lining.

Well, this is a good place to stop, for now, I promise that I will get you all catch up to speed with my travels and Vet School Adventure.

Day 1 of Traveling: Dec 28th, 2017

Well, I’m all packed and ready to go to the airport. I have three bags to check, one carry-on and my personal item ( a very stuffed backpack).

My flight was originally scheduled for 6:15pm but kept getting delayed. First to 7:00pm then to 7:15, 7:30, 7:55 and finally to 8:01pm. So it was a lot of sitting in our living room, trying to not leave too early for the airport.

When we arrived at the Wichita Airport, I went to check my three bags. When I got to the counter I was told that the statement I had originally been told, that I could take three checked bags, had changed to two check bag restriction. So of course, my stomach promptly turned into a knot!  I pulled my three bags over to where my mom and Dad were sitting and started playing the ultimate game of “Need VS. Want”. I may have hated the game but I totally won, with the help of mom, Dad and W. I won’t have been able to do it without them, especially W! He was a lifesaver! 

I was definitely a sight as people walked into the airport and see me, on my knees with my bras, toothpaste and such all over the floor around me. 

After packing all my needs into two of the three bags, I went back up to the counter and checked my two bags. The lady behind the counter reminded to collect them in Dallas before my next flight the following morning. My mother had the brilliant idea that a friend I had made who is a returning Ross student who also lives in Wichita and was here over break, could possibly take my third suitcase!!! This is why you should always be kind to your mother (and dads)because they are amazing and you would probably die without them! 

So Dad was the source of reason when he suggested we all go grab a coffee or some snacks before we went upstairs to the TSA. As we sat around that little coffee table, I looked at my family and realized just how lucky I was to have them and how much I wanted and needed to make them proud. I opened my phone and saw all the messages from my family and dear friends, wishing me well and safe travels. I feel truly blessed.

After a bit, it was time to go upstairs so I could go through TSA. There had been so many tears (most of them, of course, coming from me....with mom coming in a close second place for volume of tears cried) and you better believe I cried, even more, saying goodbye to each of them. They watched as I went through TSA and, Lucky SJ, getting “randomly selected “ for additional screening. But it honestly wasn’t too bad. I was too excited and emotional to let anything break my positive spirit. 

After going through TSA, I found my flight gate and waited to be called up to board. There ended up only being about 15 people on my flight. I got a whole row to myself, which is good because my carry on bag was just a wee too big to fit in the overhead bin. But with a smile, the flight attendant came to my rescue! He offered me a thick trash bag and I put my liquid bag, makeup bag and my pair of jeans in it and tried again to put my bag in the overhead bin. It fit in! So with the extra space on my empty row, I had a lovely flight from Wichita to Dallas. Once I landed and got clearance to turn my phone back on, I went ahead and rung my hotel to let them know and to sent the shuttle my way. She asked if I had any checked bags to retrieve and I said yes. She informed me to call again when I had successfully collected all my bags. 

I made my way off the plane and to the baggage carousels. The lady behind the American Airlines desk informed me that I was at the correct place to collect my luggage. So I took and waited.....I waited for a whole hour. After which, I decided to check back in with the same lady. I waited for a gentleman who was yelling and screaming at her. He was upset that his luggage was delayed and won’t arrive until midnight. Once it was my turn, I knew had to be sweet as pie to this lady (1. Because that gentleman had just finished screaming at her and 2. Because she a person just trying to do her job and help and finally 3. Because you catch more flies with honey than vinegar). 

I gave her my luggage numbers and she informed me that my luggage must have been misplaced and as I was about to start filling out the paperwork for lost luggage, she informs me that my luggage is getting ready to go on my flight for Miami that leaves in the morning. So basically I waited at the luggage carousel for an hour...just for the fun of it. Being relieved that my luggage was not lost, I called my hotel again and waited for my shuttle to arrive. It took me to my hotel and I finally got to lay my head down on a pillow at 11:30pm. I was dog tired, I’ll tell you what! But I melted into the bed and slept like a baby if a baby sleeps with a fort of pillows around them.

 

Redos, Retries and BIG NEWS!

Hello all you lovely people! I know it's been awhile since I posted but let's just jump right in...

First off the big news, I graduated this May with a Bachelors in General Studies with chemistry accent and a biology minor! Sounds quite fancy, if I do say so myself. Honestly it just means that when I went to my advisor and said " I want a bachelors", he said "based on all your classes you are able to get this bachelor degree." I said alrighty then and now I have my bachelors. I chose not to walk across the stage but never the less, I am proud of myself for achieving my bachelors! 

I did apply for the Fall 2017 semester down at Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine. I was rejected for the second time and told to retake my GRE, since the score I had sent in was from 2013. This time I didn't get a letter, I got a phone call from the gentleman who interviewed me. When he called I was at work and was so hopeful that I ducked into the restroom to answer his call. He informed me that I did not get in and I told him, while fighting back tears, thank you for calling but that I would have to call him back, since I was at work. I must have spent 10 mins in that bathroom trying to stop crying and to calm myself back down but, it was a blow to the gut, let me tell you. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger! So I pushed forward, my family and friends were a continuous source of positivity and motivation when I started to get down on myself. 

I knew I wasn't going to give up! I signed up for a Vertebrate Zoology course taught at Wichita State University in the fall. I didn't want to have any education breaks and I wanted to stay sharp. I also decided that I would cast my nest further this time. I applied to Ross University, St. George University and St. Matthew's University. I sent all my info to both Ross and St. Matthew's and was about to finish sending all my documents to St. George when I got a call from St. Matthew's, they wanted to interview me! I was so excited and after the Skype interview, St. Matthew's told me to get all things in order so that if I got accept for their Jan 2018 semester, I would be ready. Now, St. Matthew's is not U.S. accredited,so that would just mean that I would have to take an additional exam before my boards to be able to practice in the United States. Which, I thought would be no big deal because if I could pass the additional exam then the boards wouldn't be too scary. Another point about St. Matthew's, that I was unaware of, was that because it is not accredited, you can NOT get government loans! I searched for two straight days and could find no place that would do private students loans for an unaccredited university. So in the end, St. Matthew's and I just didn't work out.

Then on Nov 30th, 2017, while I was at work, I felt my phone vibrating in my scrub pocket. I looked down and saw that it was a call from New Jersey, which could only mean Ross! I immediately thought of what had happened last time. I knew I had 4 and half more hours left of my shift and I didn't want to spend those hours fighting back tears again. So I chose not to answer it. After about an hour or so,  I glanced back at my phone and saw there was a voicemail. I was so nervous and I didn't want to know what that voicemail had to say but after about 30 mins, my will power broke and I stepped out to listen to the message. It was from a women and all she really said was "I just wanted to share some information with you regarding your application, call me back or I can try calling back tomorrow morning". Now I tried to not be too hopeful because I didn't want to get my hope crushed when I talked to her. I decided to wait for her to call me the next day. So the next day is Dec 1st,2017 at about 9am, I couldn't take the suspense anymore, I called her. But I got her voicemail so I hung up. Within 10 mins I got a call for Bill Bingham on an unknown number from New Jersey. I answered it and was terrified. Then he said, we would like to offer you a spot in our Jan 2018 Vet Prep Classes! I immediately accepted!! I know the Vet Prep may not have been what I was hoping for but when I passed the vet prep program I would immediately start the DVM program! I was so on board! 

SOooo things are moving pretty fast here. I still have to finish my course at WSU on Dec 12th and get all my student Visa paperwork done but I am not stressed at all. I'm so excited and just so happy. I will continue to keep you update as I begin this brand new chapter of my life, into Vet School on the Caribbean island of St.Kitts!

Rejection in a little white envelope

So as you can tell from the title, I received a rejection letter from Ross the other day. It was a hard letter to open. I knew that a letter from Ross was a 98% chance of it being bad news.  I took the letter and ripped it opened and began to read. I read the first paragraph and of course, there were some tears...okay a lot of tears. So sue me, I was really hoping for another outcome. I was upset that I got a letter and not a phone call, like I was promised. Yet it makes sense because who would want to be on the phone and have to tell someone that they didn't get in. I would probably be a blubbering hot mess if I had to carry on a conversion with some random person who called and said I didn't make it. I extremely happy that  I had personal time to read and cope and then reread  the letter.

So reason behind their rejections (things that didn't help me); not having my bachelor degree yet,  still taking Biochemistry and Genetics and my science GPA not being stronger.

Now, for spring 2017, I plan to take the last 13 hours needed for my bachelor's degree. Of course I have just finished up taking genetics and Biochemistry ( which will raise my science GPA and complete all the requirements). I was told by my interviewer that if I had a bachelor's degree it would help combat the negative of my science GPA. So that's the next step.

Lights, Camera.....Interview!! - November UPDATE -

Hello all of you lovely readers!!

Well it is Sunday, November 13th, 2016! Last Wednesday I got to do my interview with a interviewer from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine!
I thought it would be a nice little treat to put together some of the questions I was asked, in case any of you , readers, might be preparing for an interview at a Veterinary College or at Ross!
The interview I had took place on Skype so I had to email the lady my Skype username and my CV. CV is a more focused resume, you put all your stuff that would help you to get into Vet school (your volunteer and work hours, school and such.) If you have any questions, just comment below and I can  provide some more detailed outlines.
SO here we go....
1) Basic questions: How did you hear about Ross? Why do you want to be a Veterinarian? Why do you want to come to Ross?

2) GPA & GRE questions: They will touch on any subjects you may not have none so well in. Do not get scared just be honest and explain why you didn't do so well in those courses and then add what you have done to improve on them. Be ready to explain yourself and give examples.
They will ask how you prepared for the GRE, so also be prepared to list what you did for that too.

3.) Work/volunteer questions: Now here I was a little saddened because she only asked me to list off the animals I had seen and worked with in all my hours of working and volunteering. (which has been  everything from turtles to chickens to horses to cats to even a squirrel) But she really didn't dig any deeper into the subject but I had a lot of information on my CV , so maybe that's why she only asked that one question.

4) Personal Questions: What is your great strength and your greatest weakness? this one is always hard for me because I am never really sure what to say on this one. My mind always tells me to tell them that my biggest weakest is desserts but I'm pretty sure that's not what the girl meant! Hahaha

The interview it's self took about 45 mins. I was a little offset by the fact that it was on Skype but I got use to it. I caught myself staring at myself while I talked to see if I was making a weird face or anything. Which is completely noticeable from where my eyes are looking, so she totally knew. It was weird to look at her when she talked because I knew i should be looking into the camera but it wasn't the most natural thing in the world. To top it all off, I was getting over a cold so I was coughing every 10mins! I kept apologizing but i still felt so embarrassed! Eek!

But it's over and done with! So now I just have to wait 1 to 2 weeks to hear back from them. I was told it will be a phone call. They will either tell me;
1) yes, you got in! Pack your bags!
2) no, sorry you didn't make it....Try again
or ......(3) We would like to offer you a seat in our Vet Prep Course (which is a prep semester you take , down on the island and if you pass that semester you get "grandfathered" into a seat in the next semester (aka your first real vet school semester))

Well I should hear back by Thanksgiving so I will keep you all posted. (Keeping in mind that if I get offered a seat in 1st semester or Vet Prep, it still all depends on me passing my genetics and biochemistry that I am currently taking).
